Unlike pike, the trout is more cautious and harder to trick, which makes the fishing both challenging and exciting. The fishing season starts early in the year, as early as the beginning of March, and lasts until mid-May. During this period, the trout moves to shallower waters in search of food after winter. The autumn fishing then begins in early September along the outer coastline and can be really good until the ice sets in. In the autumn, the trout is often in peak condition and puts up a great fight, making this period especially popular among sport fishermen.

Autumn is also a fantastic period, as the pike build strength and weight in preparation for winter. They hunt actively and often give tough, adrenaline-filled fights. During this time, the chances of catching a really big pike are high, as they often hunt in both shallow bays and deeper waters.
